1. Crump’s Landing
The menu at Crump’s Landing features a mix of American and local cuisine, including smoked fish dip, gator bites, grouper bites, and colorful salads. They also have a selection of tacos and a black bean soup that’s worth trying, plus a kid’s menu for little ones. Boasting one of the largest parking areas in the state that accommodates various types of vehicles, including boats, the restaurant has several novel amenities.
Enjoy dining from your personal boat, an open deck dance area, beachside bar, live entertainment, and corn hole boards on the beach. If you like to party, Crump’s is the place to be.
2. Kelly’s Half Shell Pub
Irish pub with Gulf Coast flair? We’ll take it! Kelly’s Half Shell Pub is an Irish pub located in Crystal River, just a 40-minute drive from Homosassa. They offer a unique menu that combines American, Irish and Florida seafood recipes, including oysters, sashimi, bacon-wrapped scallops, mussels, and shepherd’s pie with lamb.
Guests will enjoy a full bar (stocked with plenty of Guinness) and live music on select evenings. Kelly’s is open for lunch and dinner.
3. Breakfast Station #5
Spend enough late nights out in Homosassa and you’re sure to find yourself in need of a greasy spoon to cure your headache. Head over to Breakfast Station #5, one of the best diners in the area.
The menu is a sure crowd pleaser, offering favorites like eggs benedict, breakfast burritos, omelets, french toast, waffles, decadent cinnamon swirl pancakes, and burgers (should you stumble in around lunch time). A Florida original, Breakfast Station was founded in New Port Richey in 1995 and now boasts 14 locations across the state.
4. Seagrass Waterfront
Seagrass Waterfront restaurant is a veteran-owned gem located in-town , that serves up fresh seafood including shrimp, snow crab legs, and stone crab claws, smash burgers, BBQ pork, and vegan options. There’s something for everyone. Relax and enjoy a locally brewed Florida beer with a side of the waterfront views, cool breeze, and friendly service.
5. The Shed
While we’re discussing the area’s best restaurants with waterfront views, we should mention The Shed. This laidback riverfront bar and restaurant offers expansive seating just off the marina, where you can watch the boats (and pelicans) come in as you enjoy a cold one. Some favorites off the menu include the fish basket, blackened flounder sandwich, chicken tenders, fish tacos, and Old Bay shrimp.
6. The Freezer Tiki Bar
The Freezer Tiki Bar is a one-of-a-kind restaurant that blends the laid-back vibes of a tiki bar with the casual atmosphere of a dive bar. While opinions may vary on where it falls on the tiki-to-dive spectrum, what really matters are the choices you’ll make once you’re there.
Will you park your car in the lot or dock your boat in the marina? Will you dine indoors or out? And most importantly, will you order the juicy shrimp, the succulent crab legs, or both?
7. Florida Cracker Kitchen
If you’re looking for a taste of authentic Southern cuisine, look no further than Florida Cracker Kitchen. This casual restaurant is known for its world-famous 10,000 island shrimp & grits, which are served with a delicious tomato gravy and bacon. But that’s not all—they also offer homemade corned beef hash, Okeechobee gumbo, and mullet dip.
If you’re in the mood for something different, try their stone-baked pizza with unique toppings like Blue Crab Dip. With a motto like “In grits we trust,” you know you’re in for a treat!
For the adventurous: Florida Cracker Kitchen is located just across the water from Monkey Island, a unique and historic tourist spot.
8. The Old Mill Tavern
Calling all fans of classic pub fare! Located near the Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins Historic State Park, the Old Mill Tavern is a must-visit. Its outdoor seating area is shaded by the sprawling canopy of historic oak trees, providing cool respite from the hot sun. The menu offers a variety of options, including shrimp and wings, bruschetta, gator bites, fish nuggets, daily lunch specials, and their famous Old Mill Sampler.
The Tavern’s bar is open until midnight, so if a summer storm drives you inside, enjoy a game of pool under sparkling string lights and keep the good times rolling.
9. Nauti Time Seafood & Wing Shak
Nauti Time is the #1 seafood restaurant in town, and it’s not hard to see why. With pub games and a laid-back atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot for a casual afternoon with friends or family. Guests should park in the lot, then head inside.
On the menu, you’ll fish tacos, peel and eat shrimp, ahi tuna, ceviche, shrimp po boys, wings, and side items including sweet potato fries, fried plantains, and fried pickles. Once you’ve ordered, make your way to the covered seating area and wait for deliciousness to follow.
10. Bean’s Pillar of Smoke BBQ
Speaking of our favorite food shacks, have you heard of Bean’s? This place has the “best smoked meats anywhere” according to one reviewer online. Painted vibrant yellow and teal, you can’t miss this roadside trailer on Suncoast Boulevard.
The menu is stocked with all the pulled pork, chicken, ribs, and beef brisket you could ever dream of. And it doesn’t stop there. Just reading the side items—bbq beans, green beans, collard greens, mac n’ cheese, potato salad, and coleslaw—is enough to make your taste buds do a little happy dance.
